REP. ROY ASKS HHS TO INVESTIGATE CAIR, ISLAMIC GROUPS FOR POTENTIAL ABUSE OF TAXPAYER GRANTS AND TERRORISM TIES

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Chip Roy (TX-21) sent a letter to Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. asking his department to further investigate the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and several other Islamic groups for their potential abuse of taxpayer-funded grants and ties to terrorism. The letter asks HHS to investigate whether these groups "meet the standards for suspension and debarment under federal regulations" after "new research suggests that HHS funding of terrorist-linked organizations was much more widespread than previously understood."
