Washington, D.C. - Today, Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse introduced the Screen to Save Act, a bill that changes federal insurance guidelines to ensure mammograms, X-ray imaging tests used to screen for and diagnose breast cancer, are covered with zero out-of-pocket costs for individuals 30 and older.
The Affordable Care Act currently requires most health plans to cover screening mammograms at age 40. However, the rate of breast cancers in individuals under 40 is on the rise, and Americans diagnosed with cancer in this age group are more likely to have features that contribute to poorer prognoses and outcomes-including larger tumor size and advanced tumor st...
