Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO-04) hosted a special pinning ceremony on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Cherokee Ranch and Castle to present Army Veteran Joel O'Connor with the Purple Heart - an honor more than two decades overdue.
Joel O'Connor grew up in Colorado. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, he enlisted in the United States Army as a tank crew member. In support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he served two combat tours in central Iraq and attained the rank of Specialist.
