RANKING MEMBER SHAHEEN, SENATOR MURKOWSKI PUSH RUBIO TO RETAIN PROGRAMS FOR ARCTIC INDIGENOUS COMMUNITIES AND ADVANCING WOMEN IN TECH

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 -- Senate Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member issued the following news release:

Last week, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio urging him to reconsider drastic alterations to the Arctic Indigenous Exchange Program (AIEP) and TechWomen program.

In the letter, the Senators urged Secretary Rubio to retain the programs and ensure that they benefit the intended populations. The Senators highlighted the unique opportunities that these programs provide for Arctic communities and women in vital markets.
