Today, Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (Il-03), Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection, and Congressman Greg Casar (D-TX) led 17 members of Congress calling on Speaker Mike Johnson (LA-04) to immediately schedule open hearings with the CEOs of America's largest AI companies.
In a letter to Johnson, the members wrote: "Advanced AI models pose a clear risk to the safety and security of the American people. [...] At the same time, Artificial Intelligence threatens to displace millions of American workers. [...] Unfortunately, Congress has so far completely failed to respond to the threats...
