WASHINGTON, June 2 -- Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has issued a proposed rule called: Pipeline Safety: Breakout Tank Inspection Rule.
The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on June 2 by Linda Daugherty, Acting Associate Administrator for Pipeline Safety.
Summary: Breakout tanks are used to "relieve surges in a hazardous liquid pipeline system" or to "receive and store hazardous liquid transported by a pipeline for reinjection and continued transportation by pipeline."
