WASHINGTON, July 2 -- Office of the Secretary of Labor has issued a rule called: Rescinding Portions of Department of Labor Title VI Regulations.

The rule was published in the Federal Register on July 2 by Dean Heyl, Assistant Secretary of the Office of Administration and Management.

Summary: The Department of Labor ("Department") amends its regulations implementing Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ("Title VI") to eliminate disparate-impact liability. These amendments align the Department's regulations with Title VI's original public meaning, avoid constitutional concerns, reduce compliance costs, and serve the public interest.
