Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) introduced a bill to prohibit permanent fencing at Lafayette Square Park. She became concerned after reading recent reporting indicating that the Trump Administration plans to install permanent fencing around the park located in front of the White House.
Lafayette Square has long welcomed First Amendment demonstrations, vigils and public gatherings.
