U.S. Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla (both D-Calif.) joined Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and 18 of their Senate Democratic colleagues in pressing (https://www.schiff.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/08-03-2026-Letter-to-Rubio-on-El-Obeid-Sudan.pdf) the State Department to use its leverage to prevent further atrocities in Sudan and help bring the war to an end.
