KINGSTON, R.I., July 29 -- The University of Rhode Island issued the following news release:
KINGSTON, R.I. - July 29, 2026 - Motorcycles have been added to the University of Rhode Island Department of Public Safety's fleet of vehicles for the first time. The two brand new motorcycles, purchased from Russ' Ocean State Harley-Davidson, will enable officers to respond to issues in parts of the campus that are difficult for police cruisers to access.
"The motorcycles will help officers get to emergenciesmore efficiently,especially when traffic is congested,or if there is an emergencyin areas that traditional vehicles cannot easily access," said URI Chief of Police and Assistant Vice President of Public Safety Michael Jagoda.
