SPRINGFIELD, MA-Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics delayed releasing the January 2026 jobs report:
"Government jobs data remain the gold standard, but since Trump will find any excuse to delay its release, we're left only withreportsfrom third parties of the worst layoffs to start a year since the Great Recession.
"Trump's abysmal economy is doing exactly what he intended it to do: fail workers and families so he can ransack the rest for his own pockets."
