NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION ISSUES RULE: EVENT DATA RECORDERS

WASHINGTON, May 18 -- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a rule called: Event Data Recorders.

The rule was published in the Federal Register on May 18 by Jonathan Morrison, Administrator.

Summary: This final rule amends NHTSA's regulation governing Event Data Recorders (EDR or EDRs) to delay the implementation schedule for expanded pre-crash data capture requirements. In response to petitions for reconsideration of a final rule published on December 18, 2024, the agency is adopting a four-year phase-in compliance schedule that begins September 1, 2028.
