U.S. Senators Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., and U.S. Representatives Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., Trent Kelly, R-Miss., Michael Guest, R-Miss., and Mike Ezell, R-Miss., today applauded President Trump for approving Mississippi's request for a major disaster declaration after severe storms, tornadoes, and flash flooding struck on June 18-19, 2026, as part of Tropical Storm Arthur. This approval unlocks federal resources to support recovery efforts. The eight counties granted Public Assistance are Covington, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, Stone, and Wayne.
