Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) voted in favor of the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act, commonsense legislation that strengthens election integrity by requiring government-issued photo identification to vote and documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections.
Americans are already required to show valid identification to drive a car, open a bank account, buy cold medicine, rent a hotel room, purchase alcohol, board a flight, donate blood, or access government benefits. Voting in a federal election should meet at least the same basic standard.
