WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 -- The U.S. Department of Justice's U.S. Attorney's office for XXXXXX (insert district) issued the following press release:
SAN DIEGO - Isaac Jimenez, a U.S. citizen residing in Tijuana, was sentenced in federal court today to 12 years in prison for his role in a human smuggling conspiracy whose members kidnapped migrants and extorted their families for ransom.
Two victims in unrelated kidnappings-a father of four U.S. citizen children and a 21-year-old woman from Tijuana-were never heard from again. The woman was found dead in Tijuana; the man is believed to have been killed in Mexico by Jimenez's coconspirators.
