WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 -- The U.S. Department of Justice's U.S. Attorney's office for XXXXXX (insert district) issued the following press release:

FRANKFORT Ky. -A Louisville, Ky., man, Edward Long, 22, was sentenced on Friday to 84 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge David Bunning for possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

On November 11, 2024, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Long was a passenger. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a piece of luggage that contained approximately 3 kilograms of fentanyl. Long admitted obtaining the fentanyl from a residence in Lexington, Ky., earlier that evening and that he intended to distribute the fentanyl to others.
