WASHINGTON, May 28 -- Sen. Martin Heinrich issued the following news release:
U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, joined U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and U.S. Representative Pat Harrigan (R-N.C.) in releasing information confirming for the first time that hostile foreign adversaries are using commercial location data to target American servicemembers in an active war zone.
In a letter to Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer Kirsten A. Davies, the lawmakers called for the DoD to address this major threat to national security by preventing the collection and sale of servicemembers' personal information, including phone location data.
