WASHINGTON, July 30 -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Reclamation issued the following press release:
BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Hoover Dam will reopen to visitors Friday, July 31, following the successful repair of the facility's cableway system. The dam and powerplant continued operating normally throughout the temporary closure, and employees maintained access to the facility through alternate routes.
During routine maintenance, the cableway carriage moved unexpectedly, placing stress on system components and prompting crews to secure the area as a precaution.
