WASHINGTON, Jan. 26 -- Sen. Martin Heinrich issued the following news release:
U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Lujan (D-N.M.) joined 15 Senate Democrats to send a letter demanding answers from U.S. Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon on the Trump Administration's proposal to eliminate student loan repayment options for millions of Americans.
The senators' letter comes after the Trump Administration's Education Department reached a settlement with the State of Missouri to abandon the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan - an income-driven repaymentplan that links payments to a borrower's income and family size - in response to a lawsuit from Republican attorneys general from multiple states.
