The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Virginia Tech, based in Blacksburg, Virginia, two grants that total $983,749. The breakdown for the grants includes:

* $564,763 for Discovery and Applied Research for Technological Innovations to Improve Human Health on parent-infant interactions * $418,986 for Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research on the hypothalamus and its interactions with other organs
