The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Virginia Tech, based in Blacksburg, Virginia, a research grant worth $762,861. This grant is for aging research.

The funding breakdown of the grant is as follows:

* $762,861 to study how the protein TDP-43 spreads and affects brain cells, which is necessary for studying and treating limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy (LATE). This is a form of dementia
