Today, Arizona Senators Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly introduced the Yavapai-Apache Nation Water Rights Settlement Act (https://www.kelly.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/KAT26017.pdf), bipartisan, bicameral legislation to ratify and fund the Yavapai-Apache Nation Water Rights Settlement Agreement (https://yavapai-apache.org/tribal-council-approves-historic-water-rights-settlement-agreement/). The bill resolves the Nation's longstanding water rights claims, strengthens water reliability in the Verde Valley, and helps protect flows in the Verde River.
