LAREDO, Texas - A 29-year-old former Webb County sheriff's deputy will serve federal prison time for sexually assaulting and violating the civil rights of a woman.
Ignacio Rodriguez IV pleaded guilty April 23.
U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo ordered Rodriguez to serve 240 months in federal prison to be immediately followed by five years of supervised release. At the hearing, the court heard testimony that the victim and her passenger, who had been pulled over by Rodriguez, repeatedly said they wanted to go home, but Rodriguez told them, "No, you have to convince me," befo...
