FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION ISSUES PROPOSED RULE: STERIGENICS U.S., LLC; FILING OF FOOD ADDITIVE PETITION

WASHINGTON, June 25 -- Food and Drug Administration has issued a proposed rule called: Sterigenics U.S, LLC; Filing of Food Additive Petition.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on June 25 by Grace R. Graham, Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Legislation, and International Affairs.

Summary: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or we) is announcing that we have filed a food additive petition, submitted by Sterigenics U.S, LLC, proposing that we amend our food additive regulations to provide for the safe use of ionizing radiation for the reduction of pathogens in raw enriched wheat flour.
