FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION ISSUES PROPOSED RULE: PROPOSAL TO REVOKE THE COLOR ADDITIVE LISTING FOR USE OF CITRUS RED NO. 2 ON THE SKINS OF MATURE ORANGES

WASHINGTON, July 23 -- Food and Drug Administration has issued a proposed rule called: Proposal To Revoke the Color Additive Listing for Use of Citrus Red No. 2 on the Skins of Mature Oranges.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on July 23 by Grace R. Graham, Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Legislation, and International Affairs.

Summary: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or we) is proposing to issue an order that would repeal the color additive regulation that allows for the use of Citrus Red No. 2 for coloring the skins of mature oranges.
