FIRE NEAR JARRELL BURNS APPROXIMATELY 85 ACRES

GEORGETOWN, Texas, Sept. 11 -- Williamson County issued the following news release:

Multiple agencies responded Thursday to a fire in the 300 block of Alsace Avenue near Jarrell. The source of the fire remains under investigation by the Williamson County Fire Marshal's Office, in coordination with Williamson County ESD No. 5 Jarrell Fire & Rescue.

The Jarrell Fire Department discovered the fire at approximately 1:05 p.m. Crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading as a pile of recyclable metal continued to ignite and flames spread to an adjacent field. The fire burned an estimated 85 acres.
