BLACKSBURG, Va., July 1 -- Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University issued the following news release:
Across the commonwealth, extreme heat will last through at least Sunday, July 5. Temperatures are expected in the mid-90s to over 100 degrees across much of the commonwealth through the weekend. Overnight cooling will be minimal. It is important to take care of yourself and others during this extreme heat event.
These conditions present significant risk of heat-related illnesses for persons and animals outdoors or in non-air-conditioned spaces.
