DURANGO, Colo. -Exploratoryworkwill soon beconductedatVallecito Dam,locatedon the Pine River18miles northeast of Durango,to help evaluateand guidefuturerehabilitation effortsto be completed underthe Bureau ofReclamation's Safety of Dams Program.
BeginningJuly 27,crews willbegin exploratory drilling efforts.This work will mark thefirst phase of field explorations togather geotechnicaldataatthedam'screstandspillway.AsmallportionofForest Road603,which provides access toaparking area, vault toilet andDamPark,will be closed to vehicles forapproximately4-5monthswhile this work is completed.Theroadand amenitieswill remain...
