Today, Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Chair Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) highlighted the harmful effects of federal benefits cliffs on Iowa workers, families, and small businesses. She pointed to the Upward Mobility Act (https://www.ernst.senate.gov/news/press-releases/ernst-helps-families-achieve-financial-independence), which she cosponsors, as a solution.
The legislation would initiate a pilot program for five states to consolidate multiple federal anti-poverty programs into a single funding stream and help families achieve financial independence, eliminating benefits cliffs that discourage work and advancement.
