ECKERT NETS FIRST CAREER GOAL AS HIGHLANDERS DRAW SEASON OPENER WITH RIDER

NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 17 -- New Jersey Institute of Technology issued the following news release:

The NJIT women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 1-1 draw against Rider on Sunday afternoon at Lubetkin Field at J. Malcolm Simon Stadium.

The Broncs struck first in the 38th minute on their second shot on goal to take the early lead right before halftime.

The Highlanders response came in the 58th minute when freshmanPaige Eckertfound the back of the net for her first collegiate goal, assisted by juniorSofia Mignon, to tie the match.

SophomorePenelope Kriegerplayed all 90 minutes in goal for the Highlanders and made two saves, helping the Highlanders secure the result.
