AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 1 -- The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department issued the following news release:
Devil's Sinkhole State Natural Area (https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/devils-sinkhole), currently open by guided access only in Edwards County, is poised to become a more 'traditional' SNA within the Texas State Parks system thanks to the acquisition of 1,200 acres on the western property line.
The newly acquired land is more of the previous Whitworth Ranch, which was split up when the original SNA was formed in 1985. The historic Whitworth Ranch was the first in the area to raise sheep and the families were deeply involved with their community.
