On Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland pursuant to 5 U.S.C. Section705 stayed the USCIS August 29, 2025 Policy Alert and Update pending a final resolution of the case on the merits. League of Women Voters v. USCIS, No. 25-cv-3777 (D. Md. Aug. 3, 2026). The 2025 Policy Alert stated that only state and local election officials (and not nongovernmental organizations) would be permitted to provide voter registration services at administrative naturalization ceremonies.
