Today, U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) announced that the Department of the Interior has awarded $35,678,079 under the Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program for rural counties in Nevada. PILT payments provide yearly federal funding to local governments that cannot collect property taxes on federal land, helping them pay for essential services like law enforcement, firefighting, public schools, and infrastructure.
