U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Peter Welch (D-VT) released the following statements after their Carla Walker Act, which would allow existing federal grant funds to support forensic genetic genealogy (FGG) DNA analysis and help solve previously unsolvable cold cases, passed the Senate. The bill is named for Carla Walker, a Fort Worth native whose murderer was finally identified 46 years after her death with the help of this advanced technology.
