WASHINGTON, Jan. 12 -- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has issued a notice called: Withdrawal of Joint Statement on the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Noncitizen Borrowers.
The notice was published in the Federal Register on Jan. 12 by Russell Vought, Acting Director, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Summary: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau) and Department of Justice (DOJ) are withdrawing a joint statement issued in October 2023 regarding the implications of a creditor's consideration of an individual's immigration status under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA).
