Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) today highlighted the House passage of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act, commonsense legislation to strengthen the integrity of federal elections by ensuring that only United States citizens vote.
The House passed the legislation by a vote of 218-213.
The SAVE America Act modernizes federal election law by requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections, mandating that states remove non-citizens from voter rolls, and establishing uniform photo identification requirements for voting in federal contests.
