Today, House Republicans blocked a motion by Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) to subpoena Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform regarding abuses by DHS, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) under the Trump administration. Krishnamoorthi introduced the motion during today's hearing, citing deadly shootings involving federal immigration agents, the wrongful detention of U.S. citizens, and the Department's repeated refusal to respond to congressional oversight requests.
