Congressman Cory Mills (FL-07) introduced legislation to establish a United States Capitol Police Reserve Fund, a commonsense "just-in-case" safeguard designed to ensure Capitol Police officers and staff continue to receive pay and critical resources during a potential lapse in government appropriations if the government were to shut down in 2026.

The bill, titled the United States Capitol Police Reserve Fund Act of 2026, creates a limited, tightly controlled reserve fund that would only be activated in the event of a federal government shutdown affecting the Capitol Police.
