WASHINGTON - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today wrote to Governor Bill Lee urging him to seek assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after Saturday's devastating storm.
The letter reads in part:
"I strongly urge you to request assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under the provisions of Section 501 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. 5121-5207 (Stafford Act), and implemented by 44 CFR 206.35, for Shelby County in response to the severe storms that struck Memphis and Shelby County on Saturday, August 22.
