The rule was published in the Federal Register on May 20 by D.M. Parker, Commander, U.S. Coast Guard, Acting Captain of the Port Sector Northern Great Lakes.
Summary: The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone for navigable waters on the Straits of Mackinac, in particular within a 500-yard radius of the vessels Ugle Duckling and Streak while they are conducting underwater survey operations. The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards created by underwater survey work on Line 5 Pipeline.
