NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard and good Samaritans assisted crew members aboard life rafts following a vessel fire aboard the Cyprus-flagged research vessel Rem Andes, approximately 100 nautical miles south of Grand Isle, Louisiana, Monday.
A Coast Guard C-27 Spartan aircraft aircrew from Air Station Clearwater intercepted the vessel Rem Andes mayday call and diverted to assist.
Offshore supply vessels that responded to assist safely transferred all Rem Andes crew members who boarded the life rafts to Port Fouchon.
