WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 -- Sen. Bill Cassidy issued the following press release:
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) introduced legislation (https://www.cassidy.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Member-Pay-Bill.pdf) to ensure political appointees in the federal government do not earn a salary higher than Members of Congress. The bill would cap the annual salary of appointees at the annual salary of a U.S. Senator or Member of the House of Representatives.
"If you're paid by taxpayers, you shouldn't make more than those who were elected by taxpayers," said Dr. Cassidy.
