The Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded $7.6 million to replace the current air traffic control training system at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), increasing safety, reducing delays, and modernizing air travel. Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) voted in favor of this funding as part of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2024.

The funding supports the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) Retrofit of Tower Simulation Systems (TSS) to SAV. TSS is a high-fidelity, computer-based, and immersive training tool used by the FAA to train Air Traffic Controllers in a safe, simulated environment. ...
