Congressman Eric Burlison (MO-07) today unveiled the pay-for included in his Great American Healthcare Act: a provision targeting a Federal Reserve payment stream that outside research projects will exceed $1 trillion over the next decade. The Foundation for Government Accountability produced the projection, which was subsequently incorporated into the Heritage Foundation's 2026 American Opportunity Agenda.
The legislation would repeal the Federal Reserve's broad authority to pay interest on reserve balances while preserving a narrower earnings mechanism for supplemental reserves. The projected savings would offset reforms designed to put patients back...
