Yesterday, Congressman Vern Buchanan, Vice Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, helped introduce legislation to prohibit Members of Congress from profiting off insider information. The Stop Insider Trading Act (https://steil.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/steil.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/stop-insider-trading-act_xml.pdf), led by Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wis.), would ban Members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children from purchasing individual stocks of publicly traded companies while in office.
