Maha: Fadnavis stays ban on loose edible oil sale, sets up committee to frame policyMumbai, Oct 31 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has stayed the ban on the sale of loose edible oil imposed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), providing relief to traditional oil traders across the state.The state government has also constituted a special committee to examine the issue and recommend an appropriate policy framework.The decision comes after FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe imposed restrictions on the sale of loose edible oil, triggering concerns among traditional traders over the impact on their businesses.The government has formed a 'Loose Edible Oil Sale Coordination and Policy Committee' to study the issue and suggest measures that would balance existing food safety regulations with the interests of traditional businesses. The committee has been asked to submit its report to the government within one month.The Joint Commissioner (Food) from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will head the committee. Its members include the Joint Commissioner (Food) from Amravati, presidents of the Edible Oil Traders Association and the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Edible Oil Merchants Association, representatives of the traditional Teli community and experts from the food technology sector.Fadnavis had earlier directed the authorities to grant a special one-year extension for the sale of loose edible oil. The newly constituted committee will examine ways to ensure coordination between the existing FDA regulations and the practical difficulties faced by traditional traders.It will also explore policy measures to support traditional businesses while ensuring compliance with food safety standards.The government's final decision on the future of loose edible oil sales is expected after the committee submits its recommendations. राज्य सरकार ने इस मुद्दे की व्यापक समीक्षा करने और एक उपयुक्त नीतिगत ढांचा तैयार करने के लिए एक विशेष समिति का भी गठन किया है। इससे पहले खाद्य एवं औषधि विभाग के आयुक्त तुकाराम मुंढे ने खुले खाद्य तेल की बिक्री पर पाबंदी लगा दी थी। इस कारण कारोबारियों ने व्यवसाय पर पड़ने वाले बुरे असर को लेकर गहरी चिंता जताई थी। लेकिन राज्य सरकार ने अपने ताजा फैसले में श्री मुंढे के लगाये प्रतिबंध को ही पलट दिया है।
इसके अलावा राज्य सरकार ने 'खुला खाद्य तेल बिक्री समन्वय एवं नीति समिति' का गठन किया है। यह समिति खाद्य सुरक्षा नियमों और पारंपरिक कारोबारियों के हितों के बीच संतुलन स्थापित करने वाले उपायों का अध्ययन कर सुझाव देगी। समिति को एक माह के भीतर सरकार को अपनी रिपोर्ट सौंपने का निर्देश दिया गया है।
छत्रपति संभाजीनगर के संयुक्त आयुक्त (खाद्य) इस समिति की अध्यक्षता करेंगे। इसके सदस्यों में अमरावती के संयुक्त आयुक्त (खाद्य), एडिबल ऑयल ट्रेडर्स एसोसिएशन और छत्रपति संभाजीनगर एडिबल ऑयल मर्चेंट्स एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष, पारंपरिक तेली समुदाय के प्रतिनिधि और खाद्य प्रौद्योगिकी क्षेत्र के विशेषज्ञ शामिल हैं।
इससे पहले मुख्यमंत्री फडणवीस ने अधिकारियों को खुले खाद्य तेल की बिक्री के लिए एक साल का विशेष विस्तार देने का निर्देश दिया था। नवगठित समिति मौजूदा एफडीए नियमों और पारंपरिक व्यापारियों द्वारा सामना की जाने वाली व्यावहारिक कठिनाइयों के बीच समन्वय सुनिश्चित करने के तरीकों की जांच करेगी। यह समिति खाद्य सुरक्षा मानकों का अनुपालन सुनिश्चित करते हुए पारंपरिक व्यवसायों का समर्थन करने वाले नीतिगत उपायों की भी तलाश करेगी। समिति द्वारा अपनी सिफारिशें सौंपे जाने के बाद खुले खाद्य तेल की बिक्री के भविष्य पर सरकार का अंतिम निर्णय आने की उम्मीद है।
