Bengaluru, Aug. 14 -- A political storm erupted in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Friday over Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan's reported refusal to attend an Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony, with the Opposition questioning the government's decision to accommodate his request.
BJP MLA Sunil Kumar launched a sharp attack on the government, asking why Zameer should continue as a minister if he did not have time to attend the August 15 national event.
Raising the issue in the Assembly, Sunil Kumar said Zameer had written to the government stating that he would not be able to attend the Independence Day programme assigned to him.
