New Delhi, Aug. 10 -- Yuva Shakti and the sesquicentenary of Vande Mataram will be among the defining features of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, which will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the historic Red Fort.
Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, briefing the media here on Monday on the preparations for the celebrations, said youth power had been consciously chosen as this year's major theme, with the focus aligned with the government's vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
"Every year will obviously have a new highlight," Singh said, adding that the emphasis on youth had been decided well in advance and was not prompted by any recent developments.
