Bengaluru, July 17 -- The political battle over Karnataka's proposed Greater Bidadi Integrated Township escalated on Friday as former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa accused the Congress government of pursuing an "anti-farmer agenda", warning of a statewide BJP-JD(S) agitation unless cases filed against protesting farmers and women are withdrawn within 24 hours.
Addressing a joint opposition protest, Yediyurappa alleged that the government was attempting to acquire fertile agricultural land in Ramanagara district for "real estate interests" despite the availability of government land, and demanded that the acquisition process be scrapped immediately.
