Aichi-Nagoya, Sept. 21 -- Two-time junior world champion Aryan made a commanding start to his Asian Games campaign, brushing aside Afghanistan's Safi Shahzada 2-0 to enter the men's 56kg sanda quarterfinals here on Monday.
Aryan was in complete control of the contest, winning both rounds by an identical 5-0 margin to register a comprehensive 10-0 victory.
The Indian wushu exponent imposed his authority from the opening exchange and maintained the pressure throughout the bout. Shahzada struggled to find a way back as Aryan secured both rounds without conceding a point.
The emphatic victory takes Aryan into the last eight of the 56kg sanda competition and keeps his medal hopes firmly alive.
